Redemption || Nathan and Andrea ||

nathancrosswell:

When she says that she is happy that they are together he could feel himself calm down a little bit. He looks up at her and whispers. “Me too.” He could tell that something was going through her mind. He likes how easily he can read her just because she is his girl. He kind of likes the thought of that in general actually. It makes him happy how much she is enjoying the cake. He likes that she seems so pleased by the small things he does, because it makes him want to try for her all the time. He just likes making her smile. Knowing that he is the reason behind it just makes him feel better.

When she asks him her question he looks up at her, a little confused. “Andrea…” he starts to say, taking her hand in his. “I couldn’t care less what anyone thinks about us. You make me happy and no one else can possibly change that” he says, giving her a soft smile. He doesn’t want her mind to wander like that. He doesn’t like the idea of her thinking about reasons why he could be over thinking. He just needs to tell her. “There is a reason I haven’t had a relationship in a long time” he starts to say, running his fingers through his hair. He can’t tell her everything… not right now at least. He is going to tell her what he can get out, though. “There was only one other girl I let myself care about… it was three years ago” he says, “We were together for years.” He has never told anyone about this and doesn’t even know how to word it. He has never had to say it out loud before. “She… I lost her” he says, not able to say the worlds he needed to.

He doesn’t know how to talk about this. “I lost her Three years ago… exactly three years ago the day of that dance thing” he says, hoping that she would understand why he couldn’t go to the dance. He didn’t realize the date until the second the day started. He couldn’t finish this like that. He doesn’t want her to think that he just isn’t over an ex. “She… died” he says, saying the last word quickly. He has never said that out loud, and it makes him feel empty. He can’t talk about this anymore. He just can’t.

A small, relieved smile forms on Andrea’s lips when he assures that other peoples’ opinions don’t matter to him. She always knew that he was the kind of guy who didn’t think much of anyone else’s opinions, but she wasn’t sure if the thoughts and opinions of his family had any impact or may have affected their budding relationship. She was greatly relieved that wasn’t the case, and felt a bit silly for asking the question in the first place. She liked knowing that regardless of what anyone else sad or thought, she was the one who made him happy. Andrea felt proud of that fact, because being with him made her absolutely euphoric, and knowing that he felt the same way amplified that feeling.

The feeling of her hand in his, like always, was comforting and pleasant. She wasn’t sure how he was able to draw out these emotions from her with such simple gestures; just being nearby him was enough for her to feel more at ease. Hearing him nervously begin to explain things to her, however, causes her to look up at him curiously. Whatever he’s about to tell her is obviously difficult for him to say, and she can only patiently stay quiet and let him talk, squeezing his hand in encouragement. She watches his pained expression as he begins to explain his last girlfriend, and Andrea automatically knows. Nathan doesn’t even have to elaborate any further on how he lost his girlfriend, because Andrea knows all too well what happened. The look of grief on his face mimics the same exact same expression her father had on every single day ever since her mother died. It’s the look of someone who lost the person they were in love with, and whomever this other girl was, her death obviously impacted Nathan harder than anything else ever did.

Unable to restrain herself, Andrea pulled Nathan into her embrace, not needing him to explain any further. She wanted the truth, and she got it, and suddenly she feels like she’s seeing Nathan in a whole new light. It obviously took a lot for him to open up to her like this, and while she’s glad that he trusts her enough to share this with her, she’s upset with herself for thinking the worst of him when on the day he was mourning. “I’m so sorry,” she whispers sincerely. “I’m sorry you lost her, and I’m sorry for getting upset at you for it. If I had known…”

As much as I would love to stay here longer, I don’t think my dad will be okay with finding out I decided to extend my vacation from school in order to perfect my tan.

Want me to repeat it to you?

He feels the same way? There is nothing wrong with being delusional, Andrea. Nathan will probably go for a girl like yourself, and then go on the next one.

I know he’s always been like that before, but don’t get your hopes up this time, Terra. I’m not going anywhere.

Well, how about we make up for it by every kiss being perfect

Now that sounds like a wonderful idea.

Redemption || Nathan and Andrea ||

nathancrosswell:

When she says that he has nothing to be scared of, he looks down again. He does have something to be scared of. People think that the worst thing that can happen with a relationship is a messy break up… He would much rather a messy break up than… he shakes the thought and looks up to her again. “It isn’t a comfort zone problem” he says, running his fingers through his hair. He wants to just tell her everything, but he isn’t sure that he would be able to handle it. He isn’t that strong. When she says that it makes her like him more, he could feel the slightest of smiles form on his lips. “I am glad it makes you happy” he says, looking back up to her. “I don’t think that I have any choice in how much I care about you at this point” he says, kissing her hand again. He likes kissing her, no matter where he is kissing her.

He wants to say so much right now, but just can’t seem to get the words. Before he could get any words out, the man comes over and puts the cake in front of them. “You said on our ‘not date’ that you didn’t care where we went as long as there was chocolate cake” he starts to say, “so I made sure that we had some here. We can pretend that it was part of the movie.” He smiles and gives her a small kiss, then leans back into his seat. He kind of hopes that the cake can distract her for a little bit until he can get his thoughts all sorted out. He thanks the man as he walks over and starts to play the instrument again.

He is going to tell her. He is going to tell her that the reason he is so scared to care about her is because of what happened last time he cared about someone. There has only been one other person he has cared about this much… and he just hates having that be his only memory. It isn’t his only one… but it is the one that will forever stay in his head. By telling her this, he would also be telling her why he missed the date. He did promise to do that tonight… and he never breaks a promise. This is perfectly fine in his head… well mostly fine. Well, it seems doable. He knows that it won’t be that easy the second he opens his mouth.

It was strange to realize that over the time they’ve spent together, Andrea had gotten good at reading Nathan’s expressions. She could tell that something on his mind was bothering him, and as much as she wanted to ask him what was wrong, she didn’t want to have to pry anything out of him. He promised he’d be honest with her, and she wants him to tell her on his own time. She knows that his friend — his girlfriend, she needs to be patient and understanding, but Andrea wasn’t sure how to reach out to Nathan. The feeling of his lips on her hand sends a small shock throughout her body, and it still astounds her how how much of an effect he had her. She didn’t she’d ever get used to him kissing her, or her being able to kiss him so freely. She returns his smile with one of her own, biting her lip to keep herself from asking more, knowing that while he was struggling to sum up an answer, she needed to let him tell her on his own.

The cake offers a pleasant break, and Andrea can’t help but get a little excited seeing it brought out and placed in front of her. “You’re perfect,” she tells him, smiling into his kiss, swooning over the fact that he practically remembered every little thing about her. She wastes no time taking a bite out of the decedent dessert, resisting the urge to moan as her taste buds are sent to heaven. This cake was a hundred times better than the one she had at the luxurious restaurant way back then on her “not-a-date” with Nathan, although she wasn’t sure if it was the cake she enjoyed or the fact that she was eating it now with Nathan as her new boyfriend.

While she takes in a few bites, she slowly tells him, “Despite whatever… worries you have, I’m really glad that you and I are together now.” Turning her fork over in her hands, she wonders what could possibly be troubling him. Andrea herself was nervous about telling Ashley and Chris about her new relationship, knowing that they didn’t exactly like the King of Crosswell that much, and maybe that’s what he was worried about, too? Whether all the people he knew would approve of their relationship? She wasn’t exactly “Queen of Crosswell” material, that’s for sure. She doubted Terra would be happy with the relationship — Nathan’s gorgeous sister despised the fact that Andrea was close with her brother, and she didn’t even want to think about what Nathan’s best friend would have to say about the subject. “You’re not worried about everyone going to think of… us, are you?” she asks, staring down at her plate, unable to look at him.

Don’t worry about it, I will always be there to stop you from doing anything you might regret

Kind of… but let’s not think about that right now. I just want you to smile again

Good, because I’m going to need you. Thank you.

Kind of hard to smile knowing that our first kiss wasn’t as romantic as I initially thought, but instead induced by alcohol. I can’t even remember it.

I hear it’s like this all year-round, too, even in winter. I don’t ever want to leave the beach.
